Insurance for jewelry, is no longer an option, but a necessity. And this is not only for the monetary cost of the jewelry, but to try to get back something for the sentimental value of it. Although, measuring sentiment is very hard, but at least if there is some monetary compensation, the sting of loss or theft seems to be less. And with tungsten rings being as popular as they are and very preferred, that is one piece of jewelry that you might want to insure.

There are two very different possibilities to cover your tungsten carbide rings or any other jewelry that means a lot to you. First you can purchase a floater which states that if something happens to the ring you can either get another ring of the same type or you can get the money for its appraised value. Secondly, you can buy a stand alone policy where the ring will have to be appraised by a jeweler. This is for much more costly jewelry.

If you are looking to avoid purchasing insurance for your tungsten rings it is not always easy if you are looking to get away from spending a lot of money. There are numerous ways you can lose your ring or it can be stolen. Every day thousands of people submit loss claims regarding jewelry, especially because it is stolen. Even babysitters have been known to sneak into jewelry boxes and slip one ring or piece of jewelry out and into their pocket. Many times it’s not discovered until much later. Personally, I’ve had that happen to me.

It’s important, if your piece of jewelry is dear to you or if it’s very expensive, is to take it to a jeweler every few years to have it checked out. Also, be very careful that you don’t misplace it. Have a hidden place that you keep your good jewelry and when you take it off for any reason, even to just wash your hands, put it in that spot so you will not have an accidents with it.

When you are cleaning your home or using any sort of chemicals, take off your rings and/or jewelry and put them in your safe place. Also, if you go swimming, especially in the ocean or a lake, don’t wear any jewelry. Water, especially if it’s cold, will shrink your fingers and a ring can simply slip off without even realizing it.

As you can see, there are many, many reasons to purchase insurance for you rings and jewelry. Just be sure you know what you are getting, and remember, even though you won’t be able to get the piece of jewelry back, at least you will be able to acquire a replacement or its monetary value.
